Search Engine Optimisation
I - Why this course is different?
At first, when we talk about search engine optimisation, we talk about Google or the way to be ranked first on Google page results.
How does Google rank web sites? Nobody, I repeat nobody has found out how Google ranks web pages.
This course is different in three points:
This search engine optimisation course is more complete than others; you will find more technical details.
All points will be explained in details; for instance what does keyword density exactly mean?
And at last, it will teach you to be more logical in the purpose to help you to have your own opinion, your own ways and your own point of view about search engine optimisation.
II - Tags in search engine optimisation:
Google uses a robot to index web pages; so Google robot will read all your tags to try to understand what exactly your site talks about or is your content relevant.
A. First step in search engine optimisation: Your “title” tags
Between your “head” tags, you should have “title” tags; put your web page title between theses ones. Once Google robot will read your web page, it will understand that your web page talks about “How to lose weight?” (For Instance)
Title tags are very important in search engine optimisation. Put it just under your head tag.
Your web page title should contain your main keywords. Do not make a very long title but chose a very descriptive title.
Your web page title is a summary of your web page.
B. What about h1, h2, h3 … tags
h1, h2, h3 tags … in Google robot opinion means very important title, or important title or less important title etc…
Put your article titles between these tags; and of course, your main title (between h1 tags) should also contain your main keyword.
Google robot will understand the importance you give to your article titles, that is why h1, h2 and h3 tags are important concepts in Search engine optimisation.
C. Let us continue: strong tags
It is the common mistake made by webmaster in search engine optimisation: they just put their important keywords in bold instead of using strong tags. Yes, when you put important words in bold, your visitor will understand their importance. But for Google robot, only strong tags mean important words. Put your main keyword in your articles between strong tags.
Your web page will be more relevant.
D. Search engine optimisation: are meta tags important?
Yes, Meta tags are the least important concepts when we talk about search engine optimisation; but we should not neglect any details: use Meta tags.
Use Meta description and Meta keyword tags.
Your description should be short, clear, descriptive and contain your main keyword.
Your Meta keyword should be short, clear, descriptive and ONLY contains your main keyword and some synonyms.
E. Search engine optimisation: the importance of URL in your contents
An URL in your content is very important to convince Google your web page is relevant. Your link should contain your main keyword (as usual) and should bring your visitors to a web page talking about the same concept.
F. And my "picture tag": what about alt attribute
Alt allows you to describe images with sentences in the case they do not appear correctly on your visitor computer. I think you know that you should put your main keyword in your description.
We have finished the first part of search engine optimisation; how will we optimize our contents for Google?
III - Your main keyword and its synonyms:
Search engine optimisation doest not only involve repetition of your main keyword. Use some synonyms, the most you can find. It will increase your site relevance.
IV - And what about my keywords density?
Google does not only consider how much you have repeated a word but how much you have repeated a word divided by total number of words in your contents.
This is a very easy concept, but we should learn it to know it.
Take care of your main keyword density and its synonyms
V - Be logical
To be logical is important in search engine optimisation if not you will not understand how does Google robot work.
Your web page title, description, keywords, your articles should talk about ONLY ONE CONCEPT: your web site concept.
Do not say that it is something evident: webmasters always forget this concept of ONE WEB SITE, ONE CONCEPT.
VI - Last important point in search engine optimisation: do you know your competitive sites?
This is an “add value” for you: make an analysis of your competitive sites of your main keyword.
What is the density of their main keyword? (the most important)
Do they make a mistake with their tags? (Their weakness)
How can I be ranked better? (Your logical conclusion)
